Interior Design of 3 Houses on a Private Estate in the Bay of Islands
It is a huge ask to expect absent overseas owners to accept the ideas of someone they at first know only by reputation. Such was the decision of a couple who wanted to totally revamp this beautiful estate in the stunning Bay of Islands.
A private retreat for busy travellers based overseas was the brief ‘Anita Murray Design’ was given for this project, consisting of 2 contemporary homes and 1 traditional home, overlooking the many islands that form part of what so many think of as paradise on earth.
To compliment the work done and the major changes made by the talented architect and builders, also called for the exceptional vision of the designer.
Main House
What was required were clean lines and lots of white for these light filled rooms, that open out onto a fantastic outside area with fireplace and infinity pool which enhances the ocean beyond. To achieve this, imported Italian furniture in an all white palette was chosen. The interiors are not just luxurious but also practical and comfortable, suitable for its owners and their children. Everything from furniture to monogrammed bedding, towels, cutlery, glassware and crockery was required. Fantastic artwork the owners have added results in a spectacular interior.
Loft House
Furnished once again from ‘scratch’ in a similar contemporary style, this building houses the overflow of guests for the main house.
Guest House
Is a traditional design with dark wooden floors. A modern yet more traditional ‘look’ with stylish but hugely practical and comfortable water hyacinth seating and solid dark wood bespoke furniture was designed to fit
the area.
